About Our Neighborhood
Welcome to Monarch Oaks! The area consists roughly of Long Point and Westview as the north and south borders and Hillendahl and Wirt as the west/east borders. In this area are eight small subdivisions, which have banded together for mutual benefit and support, in the form of the Monarch Oaks Civic Association. The civic association dues are $40 per year, and you can access the membership form on the Dues section of our website.
Our newsletter, The Acorn, is hand delivered and emailed to residents followed closely by MOCA meetings several times per year. The regular meetings are at the Trini Mendenhall Sosa Civic Center, located at 1414 Wirt Road, with a mix and mingle at 6:45pm and the meeting start time at 7:00 p.m. At the meetings, we usually discuss news of the neighborhood, have an interesting speaker, and socialize over refreshments. Please refer to the bi-monthly Acorn for exact meeting dates and locations.
In November 2020, we launched a private security patrol program for our neighborhood with SEAL Security Solutions. While we have reached this important step in continuing efforts to make our community safer, we need our neighbors help. Although SEAL patrol is an important component to security in our community, it does not prevent all crime that could happen in our neighborhood. It is essential that we all continue to be diligent in our individual safety, watch out for our neighbors and keep your home and property secure. Please keep in mind that although SEAL serves as a deterrent for crime in our neighborhood, things could still happen here. We need to work together to keep our community as safe as possible.
We also have an active Citizens’ Patrol program. This program benefits the entire neighborhood, as trained volunteers drive or walk through the neighborhood in one hour shifts throughout the day and early evening. This program is one of the reasons that our neighborhood is low crime area. Please consider joining the CP program and giving one hour a week.
We look forward to seeing you at future MOCA events!
